We’ve been waiting to hear some original music from Haley Reinhart for almost a full year now — and now, we can at least take some satisfaction in knowing that we have a title for her debut single.
In a new post on Twitter, the “American Idol” alum announced that the song (which is going to be unveiled in March) is entitled “Free” — a name that suits both Haley’s personality and her jazzy musical sensibilities. (It should be noted that within two and a half hours of this announcement, “Haley Reinhart Set Us Free” was a worldwide trending topic on the social-networking site.)
Haley made the announcement on the same day that she has been spending some time backstage at the Grammys — a place that she hopes to be at next year in a different sort of capacity. In addition to snapping a few photos (including the one to the left), she also had the opportunity to spend some time with another popular “Idol” alum releasing some new music in March — Adam Lambert.
Much like with Adam, the timing for Haley could not be better. She is likely going to have an opportunity to return to the show and perform at some point this season during a live show, which could give her music the bump she needs to help casual fans remember her crazy underdog story from season 10 — one where she entered the top 24 quietly but started to gain momentum and attention as the weeks went by.
There are already three artists from season 10 with albums out in Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and James Durbin — meanwhile, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams, and Stefano Langone are all also working on some music for their respective labels.
What do you think about Haley’s debut title?
