‘Modern Family’s’ Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson weigh in on Prop 8 ruling

Do you want to see them get married?

On Tuesday, supporters of gay marriage were thrilled to learn that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that California’s Proposition 8 (which bans marriage between same sex couples in the state) was unconstitutional.  While the ruling doesn’t allow gay marriage to happen in California, it is a step in the right direction.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet play everyone’s favorite gay couple, Mitchell and Cameron, on the ABC Emmy winning comedy ‘Modern Family’, and when they heard the good news about the ruling on Proposition 8 they couldn’t contain their excitement.  The pair posted a photo of themselves on Ferguson’s WhoSay account holding a sign that read; “How could you not want to see us tie the knot?”

Ferguson also posted a message on his Twitter account calling the ruling “historic”.  He wrote;

“Historic! #Prop8 is unconstitutional. @AFER & I won’t stop until ALL Americans are #free2marry.”

Mitchell and Cameron have a daughter named Lily on the series, but haven’t been able to take that trip down the aisle at this point. Could Modern Family be moving towards Mitchell and Cameron getting married in a future episode? Fans sure hope that is the case.

Do you want to see Mitchell and Cameron get married on ‘Modern Family’? Are you happy about the ruling on proposition 8?  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
