‘Real Housewives’ Taylor Armstrong talks abuse, memoir and love for Russell

She misses Russell

‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Taylor Armstrong was a guest on the ‘Today Show’ on Monday where she opened up about her new memoir, how she coped with the alleged abuse in her marriage and how she still loves her late husband Russell Armstrong.

Taylor and Russell’s abusive relationship was documented on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, but after Russell took his own life in August of 2011, Bravo re-edited many of the episodes.  Shortly after Russell’s passing, Taylor announced that she was going to release a memoir about her relationship with her husband and that it was to include some of the shocking photographs of the abuse she endured.

On the ‘Today Show’ Armstrong was asked why she decided to release the tell all book about the abuse she says she suffered in the marriage and she said she hopes to help others by coming forward with her story.  Taylor explains;

“I got out way too late, and I’m hoping that by other people hearing my story, they might decide to get out sooner. I loved him. I love him to this day, and I miss him terribly. I was trying to keep a lid on a boiling pot, trying to hide everything that was going on, while trying to be in front of the cameras.”

Taylor went on to explain the lowest point of her marriage to Russell, saying it was when he broke her jaw.  She said;

“I was on my knees, hanging over a toilet with my jaw not in the place it was supposed to be, and there was saliva running out of my mouth and I was thinking to myself, ‘How am I not going to call an ambulance? How am I going to protect him? I don’t want him to go to jail. How am I going to get my jaw back into place?’”

Taylor’s book ‘Hiding From Reality: My Story of Love, Loss, and Finding the Courage Within’ is set to hit book shelves on February 7th.
