Mrs. Carter: Naya Rivera’s personal life has hit a rather significant snag.
In what has to be one of the weirder celebrity headlines we’ve seen in some time, the “Glee” star’s wedding and possibly her engagement to Big Sean is over … and it was Sean who chose to make the announcement on his own. Typically, it is the couple that chooses jointly to make such proclamations, and they also do a little bit of a better job making it clear as to what the status of the relationship really is.
Before we do anything else, let’s just go ahead and share the statement from the rapper’s reps per People Magazine:
“After careful thought and much consideration, Sean has made the difficult decision to call the wedding off … The recent rumors and accusations reported by so-called or fake sources are simply untrue. Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately. We will not be commenting again on this matter.”
Does anyone else feel like it’s a little strange that the statement doesn’t actually address whether or not they are really still together? Typically, “working through things” suggests that there is still a relationship there, but “wishing someone the best” is a pretty strong indicator that things are done.
As for what some of the “rumors or accusations” are, it’s the same sort of typical stuff you get from tabloids, including a report that Sean supposedly cheated (which the statement above obviously denies). At one point during all of this Rivera fired off a pretty incendiary tweet about him, but deleted it from here account not long after that.
In the end, this is all very sudden given that it was only a few days ago that Naya was tweeting out about how the two were still an item.
Anyway, we’ll have more on this oh-so-messy story as it happens, and for more news about “Glee” itself, be sure to click here. You can also sign up to get further updates from our CarterMatt Newsletter.
