While Tony has always been featured in humorous moments and situations, in the early seasons the joke wasn’t ALWAYS on him. Now they laugh AT him rather than WITH him. Tony was portrayed as nearly as skilled as Gibbs and we had ample opportunities to see Tony in the role of brave, street smart, tough, and depended on and even admired by GIbbs. Now Tony mostly brings up the rear after Gibbs handles the danger. Tony’s only moments show him to be flakey, cowardly, and not too bright. Huge change from early seasons Tony.

Does it ever occur to fans that from season 1 Tony has always been written in some way like this? His character is meant to be the butt of jokes along with his seriousness and agent talents. Michael loves comedy, and no the PTB will not change it as it would change the Tony character dynamics too much. I loved the casserole, the voodoo doll, the John Travolta outfit, the bubble bath. It’s who Tony Dinozzo is. There is a lot more to him than that, but none of the fans seem to want to see it. Gibbs’ character is written serious most of the time because that’s who Gibbs is and what his character is all about. If fans would stop analysing the characters to be a personal character of their own then they would enjoy the show much more. Its television.

As a Tony fan I complain because I’m tired of his feature moment of the episode, 9 times out of 10, being a humiliating scenario or one that makes him look weak or stupid – i.e. – the bubble bath, the casserole dilemma, “playing with myself”, the voodoo doll, and now apparently – bathroom humor as Tony deals with the cleanse. I figure if Tony fans publicly complain maybe tptb will care and stop using him exclusively for the “comedy” of self humiliation. Perhaps if Gibbs were written in such a consistently humiliating manner without being allowed to show much else his fans would be complaining too, but as we know, THIS will certainly never happen.

Well – you are not wrong about these two subjects done together being totally inappropriate JaKe421 – but what isn’t any more on this NCIS Season? – just the fact that Gibbs has been sidelined by a bossy blond has me totally baffled and not likely to tune in to see this anyway. This season will soon be over right ? We can only hope .

I actually found the TVGuide April Fool’s episode description of Ziva asking “Who’s sitting on my desk?” followed by a throw down between her and Bishop more believable than this juice cleanse in the middle of one of the most serious episodes of the season. I’m not able to watch season 11 yet but it will be very interesting to see how they pull this off and how it is received. Wow!
