The finale was bad. It made it seem as if the whole wedding weekend was a waste of time. This whole show was about Ted and Robin, not the mother. The finale was a large miss for me. I give it an F.

I think we are programmed to expect things to turn out a certain way. When they don't we are confused and, sometimes, upset and frustrated. It's just our mind trying to find the logical end point here and holding on to it. But life is not that sequential or orchestrated. The ending is like life...it never ends up the way we hoped it would be but instead it ends up the way it should be. Right or wrong people fall in and out of love depending on who they are at that point in their lives. Timing is everything. Ted and Robin were just out of sync. Ted never strayed from his love for his wife and they made a point of telling us that but life goes on even after a loved one dies. The writers made a point of showing how his wife got Robin to go to their wedding. That was a way of showing her approval in some sub conscience way. People get divorced, find new love and find old love all the time...6 years after his wife died his kids just wanted to see dad happy again. It might not have been the ending everyone wanted but it was an ending that everyone needed. It showed us just how unpredictable life is...why make believe.

I totally agree with the author. What an atrocious, unbelievable, stupid ending. Ted and Robin were never right for each other, and they just killed the mother off like she was totally insignificant. I'm disgusted.

I agree 100%. This may have been an ok ending when the show was in season 1, but this was a terrible way to end a 9 year show. What a disapointment.
