Snooki, JWoww battle New Jersey Mayor to film spin off in Hoboken

Where will they film their spinoff now?

‘Jersey Shore’ is stronger than ever and with the cast members gaining heavy influence and fame faster than Ronnie can drink a glass of Ron Ron juice on a Saturday night, MTV was smart to give a few of the cast members spin off shows.

DJ Pauly D has already landed his own spin off show based on his life as a DJ and now Snooki and JWoww are in the midst of securing a location to film their spin off that will follow our favorite BFF’s as they move in together and get themselves into some crazy adventures.

Unfortunately it seems that not everyone is as excited about the spin off as the fans of ‘Jersey Shore‘ are and the show has hit a snag.  Reports from TMZ say that the Mayor of Hoboken, Dawn Zimmer, posted an announcement on her official website claiming that the Hoboken Film Commission unanimously voted to deny the permit to 495 Productions “based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents.”

The Mayor goes on to say that there is a long list of reasons why they cannot approve the 24-hour filming permit in Hoboken, one of them being that there is a local policy that prohibits any and all filming after 11 pm in the residential areas.  Mayor Zimmer claims that allowing Snooki and JWoww’s spin off to film would result in an “unacceptable lessening of the quality of life for the local residents and businesses”, which could cause traffic issues, large crowds and would disrupt day to day business.

What the Mayor fails to see is that the ‘Jersey Shore’ brand is actually an incredible vehicle to boost local business – look at what their presence has done for the Shore.  They have boosted sales in that area by around 20%, just by being there and let’s not forget the Abercrombie and Fitch disaster.  After the clothing giant made a terrible PR move by asking Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino to stop wearing their styles claiming that it was bad for their image, their stocks plummeted and they quickly had to issue an apology to the cast.

Do you think that the Mayor is making a mistake by not allowing Snooki and JWoww’s show to film in Hoboken?  Leave us your thoughts.
