Mrs. Carter: This turned out to be quite the weekend for Savannah Guthrie!
It has been known for some time that the co-anchor for “The Today Show” was getting married this weekend to her fiance Mike Feldman, but while at the reception for the big event out in the Arizona desert, she also dropped the big news that she and her husband were expecting their first child together! They are four months along, and perhaps the most endearing part of the announcement is that during their speech at the reception, they played the music for an “NBC News Special Report” before making the announcement. This was all revealed on the show this morning, and you can see the video below.
Guthrie (who apparently has racked up the air miles lately) was back in New York City on Monday, and she told viewers on the show that she literally found out she was expecting right after getting everything together for her ceremony:
“It’s funny, ’cause we set the wedding date, I bought my dress, and then I found out … So I’ve been doing a little praying that I would fit in it, and it all worked out.”
Guthrie also commented that there were some viewers over the past couple of weeks who had managed to figure it out, but she really didn’t mind some of the messages that were coming in about her “looking” pregnant while doing the show. At this point, she is just happy to get the news out there.
This has been quite the busy morning when it comes to news programs; many in the Los Angeles area received quite a shock to the system when they were rocked by a small earthquake. No one appears to be seriously injured, though, so the entire story is based more on the temporary surprise.
