ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: A new character … and renewal news?
Is there something great to report today when it comes to “Revenge” season 3? While nothing is definitive, it feels more and more like the show is going to be getting a season 4 renewal sooner rather than later.
The first bit of evidence in this is merely the recognition that Karine Vanasse (Margaux) was promoted to a series regular for a potential fourth season earlier this year. If the show had no plans of sticking around? Why bother. Since it fared well in its new Sunday-night timeslot this past weekend, that is yet another good sign to go along with what has always been the #1 reason to bring the show back: Syndication, since it is just one season away from making it there, and since ABC Studios owns this show, the network has a vested interest in that money.
Now, we turn to some more evidence. E! News claims that the renewal at this point is a mere formality, and the show is writing and planning the rest of the season under the impression that there is more story that the show will have to tell. Given the nature of the premise, that’s something the writers could not do without a vote of confidence. Could you imagine the show ending without Emily Thorne’s quest not being completed?
The E! report comes out mostly due to the news that the show is casting now the role of Gideon, the brother to Margaux who is described as “devious” in addition to being (go figure) good-looking. It’s probably only a matter of time before he hooks up with someone familiar. The character will make his first appearance during the season finale, but then will recur throughout at least the early portion of season 4.
