Yes, life can throw you such a curve ball, but this is a feel good comedy, not a gritty drama. Ted has been looking for his “one” for years. Taking that away from him at the end of the story is a real killer for me.

In “How Your Mother Met Me”, she narrates for a little bit, seemingly talking to Luke and Penny about her adventure leading up to meeting Ted. So at the very least, she is ill in 2030.
