‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Getting in a New York state of mind
As you have probably heard by now, times are a-changing in the world of “Glee.” By the end of episode 13, the show is going to be presumably done with the world of McKinley High for good as a full-time setting, and instead will be prepared to shift its focus elsewhere; namely, we are talking about New York City. Some graduates are going to join Rachel, Kurt, and Santana in the big city, and the show is already looking to cast a whole heap of other familiar faces.
So just who else could we be talking about here? According to a new report from E! News, you are going to see some of the following folks: An extremely overweight subway rider, and shady dude on crutches who may actually be a mugger in disguise, and two models. Basically, the show is casting everyone that you would generally expect to see in New York City.
It would be easy to sit here and bemoan that “Glee” is going in the most obvious and superficial direction with some of these characters, but we cannot really say that we are particularly surprised. After all, “Glee” has made a living as of late when it comes to painting in very broad strokes, and all of these characters could fit into that box very well. Plus, many of the show’s viewers are young, and need something that they can grasp hold of very easily.

In a way I see the shows point for a location change, but the attraction of this show is because it shows a group of outsiders banding together and achieving things they never dreamed possible through music. If america is still in love with the first group of actors, then why not a new York spinoff, staring the original cast members.
