Mrs. Carter: Sad news this weekend in the world of “Big Brother” couples, but is it unexpected?
While there have been some pairings from the show (see Jeff and Jordan, Brendon and Rachel or Danielle and Dominic) that have stuck together in the years that followed their time in the house, this weekend seemed to mark an official end for one of the other most-popular couples: McCranda is no more after being together more or less since June of last year. This is when Amanda Zuckerman and McCrae Olson started to get close to each other in the house, and this eventually in turn led to the two of them getting fake “married,” fighting frequently, but ending the show with their relationship still intact.
The news about the pair’s relationship status was confirmed in a post on Twitter by Amanda, where she said nice things about McCrae even though the two are no longer together:
“After a lot of thought and discussion, McCrae and I have decided that it’s in both of our best interest to continue our relationship as friends. There is no ill will, he is a very important part of my life, and I will always love him, and what we shared. Thank you for respecting our decision.”
As for what happened between the two that caused them to start to go south, the y haven’t revealed much and probably won’t. While we got to see everything that was going on in the house this past season, real life is real life and so much more complicated. This is especially true for real life after being in a show like “Big Brother,” when you’re getting all of these opportunities to do new and exciting things and travel all over the country. The unfortunately thing about “Big Brother” relationships is that it seems if you want to remain popular after the show (and stretch out your 15 minutes of fame) then continuing to be in a couple is always the best bet since that is usually what you are remembered for on the show and what fans want to see. Power reality couples always make more of a splash.
Was the end of this relationship completely unexpected? Seeing them in the “Big Brother” house it was obvious that there was some serious chemistry between them, but at the same time there always seemed to be a little friction that was brewing just underneath the surface. We can’t say that we are entirely surprised, but we did think it was going to last a little longer then it did.
At least the two seem to be keeping things cordial, and not saying anything rude about each other online right after the relationship didn’t work out. We always wondered if they broke up if it would be an all out brawl on social networking sites, and now we have our answer.
The next “Big Brother” season to premiere is “Big Brother Canada” next month, and you can read up about that over at this link. The next season of the American show should start in either late June or early July. Sign up now if you want to get email TV updates, and we’ll let you know more scoop as it comes out.
