That’s almost the point of the show, to provide artists their “big break” in music. There’s the people you mentioned in this article, plus Donna Allen who has been singing/releasing albums for yearsssss. And then there’s Tessanne Chin who had a less significant “career” in Jamaica, and Will Champlin who has an album out, has credits on a Michael Jackson album, and has won a grammy for his songwriting. There’s a whole list of contestants who have history. But that’s a good thing. That’s why the talent tends to be so much better, thus making the show more entertaining.

Yeah I definitely haven’t heard of her before but it’s not like it’s against The Voice’s mission, which is to take working artists and put them on a big stage to get them exposure for them to finally have their big break. This, in my opinion, is a much better strategy than the other competitions which just take random amateurs.
