‘Glee’: what was your favorite Christmas carol?

What was the best part?

Usually after just about every episode on “Glee,” we write about some of the songs that were featured. This time around, we have a rather different goal in mind — trying to figure out the reason behind all of the music this week.

Ultimately, it was hard to really grade any performance when there was no context. The episode felt like a giant advertisement for the show’s Christmas album, and there really was not much in the way of a story at all. What makes the “Glee” performances so effective more often than not is the context — this is why the Adele mash-up sold so many copies in its first week.

Ultimately, we really can’t wait for the show to come back in January — mainly so that we can get back to the reason we love this show to begin with.
