If you have wondered over the years why Richard Hatch has not come back to “Survivor,” there’s been a rather simple answer — the original champ has been in and out of jail. Even when he has not been in prison on tax evasion charges, the reality star was banned by the State of Rhode Island from leaving the country.
With this in mind, we have this new gem of an interview Richard gave to a local NBC affiliate after his exit from jail — one where he said that he was originally going to be the star of “Survivor: Redemption Island” alongside Russell Hantz. This makes sense, since Russell originally said that the only reason he would come back on the show was to play against Richard. When he was not able to leave the country, Richard was ultimately replaced by Boston Rob Mariano.
Also in this interview, Richard professes his innocence yet again, and said that he is thinking about an idea for a reality show at the moment.
Do you think Richard could end up on a future season of the show now that he has been released from prison again?
