Kevin Smith blasts Independent Spirit Awards for omission

Unhappy again.

Kevin Smith is unhappy — but this time, it’s all about an awards show making the decision to not nominate one of his own movies.

In a new post on Twitter, Smith fired away at the Independent Spirit Awards over their decision to not include any of his actors from “Red State” in their nominations:

“How the f— did the @SpiritAwards NOT nominate Michael Parks? Nor John Goodman? Nor Melissa Leo? F— your idiotic organization.”

Smith released “Red State” independently, declined to advertise in many ways outside of social media, and also lashed out at many major studios in the process. (He did, however, pay for a week-long run in July to get his actors qualified for any potential awards shows.)

“Red State” ended up grossing just over a million dollars at the North American box office — and thus far, it has a “rotten” rated of 58% on Rotten Tomatoes.
