‘The Muppets’ finally receives negative reviews

The reviews are still glowing.

It took dozens upon dozens of reviews for it to happen, but it now appears as though someone is finally ready to come and rain on The Muppets’ parade. The movie is now sitting with an approval rating on 97% on film site Rotten Tomatoes, as three critics have finally come out to say something that seemed for a while like it would never happen — that “seeing the show tonight” once was more than enough.

Here are the three people bold enough to go against the movement that has enchanted so many of us to this point:

-J.R. Jones of the Chicago Reader¬†felt that there really wasn’t much here for grown-ups outside of a few one-liners.

-Melissa Anderson of the Village Voice and Rick Green of the Globe and Mail both seem to agree that the film does not have the same charm as the classic TV show.

While you could take these three reviews as a sign to exercise caution, you have to remember this — the film also has over 90 positive reviews as of this writing. It is these that most of you out there will likely be in agreement with.
