You probably know Ke$ha for a few different things, whether it be her music, her antics, or her starring role on the MTV reality show “Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life.” No matter what you may know her for, the news coming out today is still sad as she has been admitted to a 30-day inpatient rehab center for what she claims is trouble related to an eating disorder.
According to TMZ (who first posted the story), the center that Ke$ha is staying at in the Timberline Knolls near Chicago, which is the same place that Demi Lovato went for treatment after leaving the Jonas Brothers tour following an altercation with a dancer aboard a plane. That should be the first piece of evidence that this is a legitimate problem, and not just something being done to get publicity at a slow time of year. The second piece of evidence? This news is coming out at the end of a day on a Friday, the time when many news outlets stops running stories. It also helps Ke$ha in a sense that it is after the holidays, when it would have ran as a constant story since so little else was happening.
In a statement to the website, the singer / reality star had the following to say about her decision:
“I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice. I’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder … to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am.”
Ke$ha has been absent as of late from some performances that could have been potentially lucrative for her, including during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and also “The X Factor.” However, this may have been to do more with scheduling than her health.
The second season of “Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life” wrapped in December on MTV, with the story starting to focus somewhat more on her family in addition to her own career.
