Sylvester Stallone announces stage debut for ‘Rocky’

If you have been secretly hoping over the years that someone would step up and make a stage version of “Rocky,” you’re in luck — that day is here!
At a press conference this week in Hamberg, Germany, it was announced that Sylvester Stallone is teaming up with boxing brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko for a musical version of the Oscar-winning film.
While this seems a bit like a strange choice at first, Stallone argues that a musical is the perfect venue to show off the famed character’s human side:
“At the end of the day, Rocky is a love story and he could never have reached the final bell without Adrian. To see this story coming to life on a musical stage makes me proud. And it would make Rocky proud.”
This musical will premiere in Hamburg in November 2012 — and will be followed up at some point by an English-language version in other parts of the world.
Is this a project you can get behind?
