Even though “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1)” is not going to be in theaters in North America until Friday, we are starting to see a little bit when it comes to how the movie is performing internationally.
The film thus far has grossed $8.9 million at numerous foreign midnight and first-day grosses — including such countries as France (where it had the third-biggest opening of the year), Belgium, Italy, and Australia. The movie has yet to debut still in most countries, and we are expecting the biggest opening of all in Australia.
While Summit is being conservative in saying that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s latest foray will group around $128 million, it could inch up further — ti’s biggest obstacle may merely be that most younger viewers will be in school on Friday, and with that it would be a shock to see it approach some of the all-time records. (That honor belongs to the final chapter in the “Harry Potter” saga, which opening with a weekend at around $169 million.)
How big of a debut are you anticipating here?
