Jay-Z is ready for diaper duty, wants to be a ‘hands on’ dad

He can't wait to be a dad

Mrs Carter: From record mogul to diaper duty, Jay-Z covers the gamete

From the moment that Beyonce rubbed her pregnant belly on stage at the 2011 MTV VMA’s you could see how excited Jay-Z was to have a baby. So what is the rapper most excited about doing with his baby girl?  Everything!

While Jay-Z was speaking to GQ Magazine he said that he can’t wait to be a father and that what he is most looking forward to is being a hands on father.  He said;

“Of course, of course [I’ll change my baby’s diapers]. One hundred percent.”

Jay-Z spoke about how his father had abandoned him when he was just 11 years old and how it affected him.  He said;

“If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts, but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real. Not to say it’s any better, but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero.”

When Jay-Z and his father reunited in 2003, he said that it was an opportunity for him to get a few things off his mind about how he felt over the years.  He explained;

“[I talked about] what it did to me, what it meant, asked him why. There was no real answer. There was nothing he could say, because there’s no excuse for that. There really isn’t. So there was nothing he could say to satisfy me, except to hear me out. And it was up to me to forgive and let it go.”

Growing up without a father only pushed Jay-Z to want to become the best father he can be for his little girl.  He said;

“Providing — that’s not love. Being there — that’s more important. I mean, we see that. We see that with all these rich socialites. They’re crying out for attention; they’re hurting for love. I’m not being judgmental — I’m just making an observation. They’re crying out for the love that maybe they didn’t get at home, and they got everything. All the material things that they need and want. So we know that’s not the key.”
