It’s still to be seen whether or not “Immortals” is going to live up to its title at the North American box office this week — but for the time being, it definitely seems as though it is living a more than healthy life.
Overall, the film (which stars “Man of Steel’s” Henry Cavill) ended up grossing $36 million — an increase of about $10 million from what Relativity Media was expecting the film to pull in. This is also $10 million more than “Jack and Jill,” which opened a bit below some expectations with $26 million.
The only other real surprise this week was that “Puss in Boots” held on incredibly well again, and with over $25 million in the bank it surpassed the $100 million mark. Also notable here is the fact that the movie could end up actually finish at #2 depending on how the evening grosses go.
As for the only other new release this week, the Leonardo DiCaprio biopic “J. Edgar” grossed $11.5 million to be #5 on the list.
