As much promotion as Adam Sandler tried to get for his new movie “Jack and Jill,” it looks like it is not going to be able to hold a candler to Henry Cavill’s pre-“Man of Steel” flick “Immortals.”
The Relativity Media flick — which had some strong report from action-adventure and comic book fans — is currently on pace to earn a grand total of $33-35 million for the weekend after earning $15 million on Friday. This is a good bit ahead of early expectations.
Meanwhile, “Jack and Jill” is only going to do a so-so job for a Sandler movie, as it is project to earn about $25 million for the weekend. Critics were more than a little bit harsh to the film, which features Sandler playing both a man and his twin sister.
Elsewhere, it looks like “Puss in Boots” is once again holding on well, as it looks to earn about $23 million for the weekend — meanwhile, “J. Edgar” will likely finish behind “Tower Heist” with an impressive gross of about $12 million. (The Leonardo DiCaprio film is in just more than half the theaters of “Jack and Jill.”)
What are you hoping to see this weekend?
