After 33 years, it looks like the band of Black Sabbath is finally getting back together. At a press conference at exactly 11:11 a.m. on 11/11/11, Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary rock group announced that they are getting back together to not only play a series of shows with Metallica, but also to record a new album due out in 2012.
The site of this conference was also symbolic — the Los Angeles dive bar Whiskey a Go-Go where they first performed together 41 years ago. Since that time Ozzy has certainly become a pop culture figure for other reasons, but we still have heard him perform Sabbath classics even without the band.
Rumors of a reunion has been circulating for much of the year, and were only intensified recently by Ozzy’s refusal to deny talk that the group could be getting back together.
Tickets for some of Black Sabbath’s upcoming shows go on sale December 18.
