NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: Joel McHale dishes on Walton Goggins appearance

The latest -The wait for new “Community” episodes is almost over, and we could not be any more excited for January 2 to be here already. Not only will we get a chance to see the Greendale gang minus that great albatross otherwise known as Chevy Chase, but there is a pretty impressive crew of guest stars also coming along for the ride. In addition to the likes of Jonathan Banks, “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gillian, David Cross, Nathan Fillion, Paget Brewster, and a returning John Oliver, we will also have”Justified” master-of-all-things-awesome Walton Goggins will also be turning up.

We recently wrote a little bit about Goggins role, and how he will be doing an investigation of sorts following up the disappearance of Chevy’s Pierce Hawthorne. Now, let’s hear what one of the stars has to say! Speaking to TVLine about the differences between this character and Goggins’ iconic Boyd Crowder, Joel McHale had the following message to share:

“[They are] totally, completely different … It’s like the difference between Jeff Daniels in The Newsroom and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber … There’s something he does — and it’s not the actual moment but something he does throughout the beginning [of the episode] — that is brilliant.”

So it is probably not a surprise to anyone that we are using the words “brilliant” to describe something that Walton does … but still, it’s exciting. This is easily the most excited we’ve been for the show since the end of season 3, otherwise known as the last time we saw Dan Harmon steering the ship. The other good news is that thanks to a pretty miserable comedy outing for NBC this year, we may actually have a chance to see that elusive and much-desired sixth season happen. Now, if there was only a way for that to happen AND a movie to get made…

We’ll have more “Community” scoop throughout the holiday season, mostly because the last thing we’d want to do at this point is keep you hanging when it comes to scoop.
