‘Dancing with the Stars’ 17 review: Did Bill Engvall, Jack Osbourne back grand finale?

Meet Bill -All season long, the Cinderella story on “Dancing with the Stars” has been about a “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” guy who has been thoroughly entertaining … even if he has never been the best dancer in the world. For about two or three weeks, it has been pretty clear that he was the worst dancer in the competition. The only real question left was just if he could make it into the final round. It was always pretty clear that he did not have that great of a chance at all of winning, but we never thought he’d make it this far… and here we are.

But tonight, the journey for Bill finally came to a close in what was a pretty emotional farewell that served as a nice reminder of why you enjoyed him on the show so much in the first place. He was gracious, funny, and felt very much like a real guy. He was never a “star” in the same way that he actually acted like one. He was more of the people’s champ.

But given that this is a dance competition, it’s hard to be too upset with the three celebrities that remain in the competition. Corbin Bleu and Amber Riley are clearly the best and have been for a long time. Meanwhile, Jack Osbourne is more of the underdog that we wouldn’t completely rule out. While we think his odds of winning are slimming, it would not shock us to see him pull some sort of Kirstie Alley performance where he works his way into second place. Amber’s got that “Glee” voting block behind her, and she also had a great opportunity to perform the coveted freestyle late in the show.

One finale piece of positive criticism about this episode: We really enjoyed that there were four freestyles this week, and we hope that four people at this phase will become a part of the competition for many weeks to come. Grade: B+.
