ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 8 review: Olivia, Fitz, common ground, and her mother’s move

Take a look -After weeks and weeks of wonder whether or not Olivia Pope and Fitzgerald Grant were ever going to really start to forge a common bond again on “Scandal” season 3, we have found out that apparently, all it took was a giant freakin’ house for the President to prove his devotion to his other woman.

For the first time since earlier this season, Olivia and Fitz now seems to be on the same page and all over each other again, as he is vowing to take the supervillain-like man otherwise known as Rowan. He is one of the few allies powerful enough to do anything about this, so we have to imagine that Olivia in particular is going to be pretty darn overjoyed to have him at her side when it comes to this.

Meanwhile, Olivia’s mom finally got a few more details about what her daughter has been up to over the past few years, but it is probably not going to be enough to eventually satisfy her. This is a woman who undoubtedly is hoping to have some real answers; instead, all she has are pictures and now feelings that her daughter may not be cared for like she once hoped.

Also in breaking news, Josie’s campaign is now finally over, and it’s all thanks to her daughter’s involvement in something that she could not throw her under the bus for. She’s just not that sort of politician. So Olivia is now open to working with Fitz again, and this time in a larger capacity.

Still, there was even more than took place in this hour, including that James was basically set up to be put in a very compromising interview position courtesy of Mellie, and while Cyrus may have been partially responsible for the idea of his man sleeping around, he still didn’t want to see the photos of it.

All of this was excellent, but nothing compared to shock at the tail end of this when somehow, Olivia’s mom managed to escape her prison, and then look her mother in the eye for the first time in decades. Just imagine the sort of chaos that is going to unfold from here. Grade: A-.
