‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 2, episode 4 review: Can Cat shake Vincent off?

“Beauty and the Beast” is a show that, for better or worse, is almost entirely based around the Cat / Vincent relationship. So just when you start to think that we are nearing the end of the road for that relationship, of course they are going to find their way back together.

So where do the two stand following tonight’s new episode on The CW: There is no relationship right now, just as there is still no completely open communication between the two characters. However, there was still a sign of significant growth for our resident Beast as he started to remember more and more of who he is, and where he actually came from. As a matter of fact, her remembered things about his life tonight that he never even told Cat previously. You may have even gotten this show confused with “Chicago Fire” for a quick second with all of the mentioning of fire that there was throughout the hour.

Before we even saw this backstory, though, we saw a Cat that was pretty eager to forget. In what was one of the funnier moments of the night, she had to rely on Gabe (whose feelings for her are becoming all the more clear with every passing minute) in order to bail her out after there was a pretty heated (but funny) exchange at a bar. Then, just as she was starting to really try to move forward, she was sucked back into his life again.

Shippers can at least take solace following this that there is more hope, and his feelings for her are still there. The biggest issue plaguing them (at least for now) is how mixed up he is in the business of dealing with all sorts of other nasty things. This was not the most eventful episode in the world, but it at least did push the story forward. Grade: C+.
