‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10 spoilers: Will James Remar be back as Alex’s dad?
For “Grey’s Anatomy” fans, there was one of the most heartbreaking moments of the season this past week as we watched Alex’s father be released from the hospital, and almost entirely without much thought on consideration from his son. Understandably, Alex still wants nothing to do with the man, and evidence here suggests that he may be right to stand by his decision. The guy is a junkie, and someone with a history of pretty destructive behavior.
But, given that we saw Jo take an interest in trying to stage a family reunion, it really should not come as much of a surprise at all that there would be another attempt in the future. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed the news that James Remar will be staging a return in the future, and while Alex is still going to be reluctant to have anything to do with the man responsible for getting his life off to such a terrible start, Jo is still going to try to do almost everything in her power to try and bring the two parties together. Granted, the biggest issue for now is that Remar’s character does not even know that his son works at the hospital.
For Alex, figuring out what to do with his father, and also figuring out his relationship with Jo, is going to be a hugely important part of the season. We hope that he doesn’t just invite him in for the sake of forgiveness, only to get burned again. While it’s nice to see people given second chances there has to be real change… it has to be earned, and at the moment it feels like there is a very tiny chance of actually seeing that happen. But who knows? Maybe some of the good that Jo tried to show the man will work it’s way into his brain, and he will start to see that he can be a better person and not just some horrible addict who continues to destroy everyone around him.
