‘Arrow’ season 2 casting spoilers: Oh Captain, my captain

Take a look -Are the producers trying to cram the entire DC Comics universe into “Arrow” for its second season? We don’t mind if they do manage to pull that off, but it does feel at this point like they are stuffing book after book in here  and we just hope that it will find a way to come together without losing some of the main story in the process. So in addition to Bronze Tiger, Barry Allen, Isobel Rochev, Anthony Ivo, and a dozen others … we now have another important name in The Captain. It’s not Captain America, the Captain read aloud during “Dead Poets Society,” or Captain Awesome from “Chuck” (sadly); instead, it is just the Captain.

According to CBR News, Jimmy Jean-Lewis has been cast in this part, and the “Arrow” production team describes it as follows:

“The Captain is a mysterious and deadly associate of Anthony Ivo, and has a connection to a mystery of Season 2 called the ‘Amazo’ — which will be a familiar name to DC Comics fans.”

The other exciting news here? This is hardly the first time that Jean-Louis has been mixed up with a popular superhero show. He is also well-known for the part of the Haitian on “Heroes,” otherwise known as that NBC show that was awesome for one season before progressively becoming so terrible that we want to forget it happened. Here’s to hoping that “Arrow” does not follow in those footsteps now that superpowers are being introduced. That was one of the many problems with “Heroes” over time: Having a power suddenly was not so special; it was the norm, and many of the characters with powers were pretty much annoying to boot.

“Arrow” premieres on The CW come Wednesday night, and there will be some more news to share before that time. For now, click here if you want to see some fantastic new photos focusing on Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, and more of the cast.
