‘Breaking Bad’ season 5, episode 14 preview: The biggest slice of ‘Ozymandias’ hype ever

Another look -Just in case you needed another reason to be excited about Sunday’s upcoming “Breaking Bad” episode, know this: The show’s own creator in Vince Gilligan believes that tonight’s “Ozymandias” is quite possibly the greatest episode of the history of the series. When you consider the crazy amount of quality that this show has put out over the years, that is quite a bold and in some ways intimidating statement to make. We don’t personally know if we would have the guts to say it, mostly because you are putting yourself into a position where if you are wrong, the fans will unleash white-hot flames of fury all over you.

But rather than going too crazy about this statement, let’s just take a look at what Gilligan had to say to TV Fanatic on the subject:

“I think these last three episodes, not to overstate it, and you could say this about the last eight, but with these last three in particular you need to install a seat belt on your sofa, you need to wear a crash helmet and a diaper. [laughs] I tell ya, this next episode, I think for my money, is the best episode we ever had had or ever will have. It was written by Moira Walley-Beckett and directed by Rian Johnson.

“I think people are going to have trouble breathing after this thing airs. It’s tremendous and it’s a great, great hour of television and I’m as proud as I can be of the two episodes that air after that one and both of them are a hell of a wild ride, too. I couldn’t be more proud of these final eight episodes or these last three episodes. I think they’re going to leave us with some sleepless nights.”

Excited yet? We hope so. The general assumption here is that “Ozymandias” will pick up right where this past episode left off in watching the battle unfold between Hank / Gomez and Uncle Jack’s crew in the desert, but who knows if it will really happen that way. If there is one thing that we have come to learn about this show over the years, it is to never expect anything so that you are consistently surprised.
