‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: The odds of a Lucy return

If you want to see more of Kate Micucci on “The Big Bang Theory” for the show’s seventh season, it is pretty easy to say that you are not alone in that request. The idea of Raj finding someone was exciting, and the romance between him and Lucy was made even more endearing due to the simple fact that the two each had so many social deficiencies that they ultimately ended up being akin to two peas in a pod.

But as for whether or not we could ever see them together now after Lucy bailed in the finale, the jury is still out. While no decision has been made, executive producer Steven Molaro tells TVLine that there was intentionally a move to make sure that this character could come back in the future:

“[The] door was intentionally left wide open [for Kate to return] … Raj said at the end of Season 6, ‘I pushed it too hard. I need to give her some space.’ And he’s still heartbroken about Lucy and sort of picking up the pieces and trying to move forward… But I love those characters together.”

We suppose that one of the other challenges for Raj’s romantic life right now comes via the balance of the show. For a quartet of socially-awkward geeks, it does feel somewhat strange to see all of them crop up with girlfriends. Many guys in such a position would be very quick to tell you that this often doesn’t happen, and what we would like to see for the time being is Raj trying to date other people, and then finding his way back to Lucy when they are ready to give it another go.
