‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15 spoilers: Mariska Hargitay’s Benson tormented in first promo
NBC must seem very cruel right now to some diehard fans of “Law & Order: SVU.” Based on the first promo that has been released for the drama’s September 25 return, there are going to be some pretty terrible circumstances that Olivia Benson is going to be going through.
The 21 seconds below are really a tale of two groups. On one side of the coin, you have the hunt for William “Burnt Fingertips” Lewis, and given the skill that is on this team, you have to assume that they will be successful eventually. However, on the other side you have Mariska Hargitay’s character going through an emotional wringer. This is going to be a very difficult series of scenes to watch, just as we’re even more sure this is going to be a difficult series of scenes for Hargitay to film. Basically, she’s having to put herself in the position of some of the women that she and the team have saved over the years.
Eventually, the show will move past Lewis and what transpired during that devastating finale last year, and then shift back to some individual cases. But what impact will this have on Benson in the long-term? This is what we are personally interested to see, as there is definitely a large capacity for change here … especially a decade and a half into the game. This isn’t like Benson has only been at this for a short amount of time.t.

I really want to watch this but I’m going to feel so sorry for Olivia Benson im going to have tears pouring out of my eyes. It’s going to be such a sad and emotional episode. Really hope the SVU team comes quickly before she actually gets raped.

SVU under Warren Leight has turned into a ratings hound (low down) with no integrity and they will do anything to try to keep SVU alive and their million dollar salaries (and with the case of Mariska Hargitay, $10 mil a year) going. The casting of Mike Tyson earlier this year was just a small and pathetic example of how far Leight will go to try to get more viewers (Tyson having a large following), which I am happy to say flopped out. They constantly use ripped from the headlines writing and they have insured SVU will go out on a less than stellar note, for those who followed it for many years before Leight. I stopped watching it this past season under Leight and after the (stunt) casting of Mike Tyson.

I really wonder how Olivia is going to overcome this.

the writers on this show are sick. they should be ashamed to show this after all the joking about rape and assault they’ve done.

What jokes have they made about rape and assault? Not to defend them, but I’m wondering what you are talking about…Personally I disagree with others, I think it’s good that they address such topics in a show–most shows are afraid to go there, and so many people have been helped by knowing they are not alone when they watch this show, and bringing the light of day to such dark subjects that nobody seems to want to talk about. Oh and not to mention that Game of Thrones gets wide acclaim when they show a woman being raped by her arranged-marriage husband. Bleh.

Im with Carrie.
I don’t see how the writers are sick and should be ashamed. They are actually going about this realistically as opposed to the unrealistic scenario of someone coming to her rescue right away. I cant wait to see how this plays out and how Olivia will deal with it emotionally.
