‘America’s Next Top Model: Guys & Girls’ review: Phil and Nina top makeover surprisesAugust 16, 2013 0 comments
Makeover day is always one of the most entertaining parts of an “America’s Next Top Model” season, but we have to admit that there was something a little bit odd about the way in which business was conducted this week. We had the makeovers, but then no real photo shoot afterwards outside of the quickie photos following the transformation at the salon.
Also, what was with the lack of major makeover meltdowns? The only real tears came from Cory, who went completely bald this week, complete with the razor and everything. As for the most drastic change, it’s either Nina (in going from blonde to a very distinct red) or Phil, who we are pretty sure was modeled after Jesus here. We mock extensions oh-so often, but they actually managed to completely work with him.
For Phil, it’s too bad that he didn’t have them earlier. The only photo shoot that the panel could go on was one before the changes happened, and it was some strange test in chemistry that featured surprise appearances from Rob Evans and Alessandra Ambrosio. In the end, the winner here was … Mike? Seriously. The man with the runway walk of stone gave a killer picture here, and proved that he does have some sort of promise beyond just being a guy that Tyra Banks found on an ice cream truck and liked.
As for the last-place earners, it was between Don and Chlea, with the latter going home for the time being … despite getting some sort of relationship rehab with Kelly Cutrone. Can we say yet again that we hate these social-media scores? The idea of these people having “fans” right now is insane, given that nobody really knows them or cares about them during production. (Trust us, we know.) We’d much rather trust judges than some person off of the street.
