ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 joins ‘Revenge,’ ‘Once Upon a Time’ with split season

More scoop -If there is one prevailing message to take away from ABC’s presentation today at the Television Critics Association summer press tour today, it is this: Repeats are bad. Very bad. Rather than confuse people with bizarre schedule moves, they are better off with just airing solid programming blocks, and then using either repeats or other programming to fill in some of the cracks. For those who don’t want to keep track of what comes on when, this is probably the best news that the network could have possibly handed out.

While it has been long confirmed that “Once Upon a Time” and “Revenge” would each be taking a sizable break in January / February so that there could be two 11-episode blocks that would air without repeats ruining everything, the network now confirmed that both “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” will be getting the same treatment along with “Nashville.” Will this help to improve ratings? We’re actually not as sold as some people, since this does give people opportunities to go and find new TV addictions in the time that their shows are away.

The following dates below were confirmed by ABC as to when we will be seeing the shows return at midseason following their respective hiatuses.

Wednesday, February 26 – “Nashville”

Thursday, February 27 – Both “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal”

Sunday, March 9 – Both “Once Upon a Time” and “Revenge”

We are assuming that ABC scheduling their new drama “Resurrection,” premiering after “Revenge” in March, is a sign that they even realize how terrible “Betrayal” is. This “scandalous” drama airs Sundays at 10:00 p.m. this fall, and it right now is tied with “Lucky 7” for our least favorite new show of the year.
