‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert’s new performance, Candice Glover album news
We’re going to start this edition of “American Idol” notes off with something that has been long predicted by anyone who has been following the road to Candice Glover releasing her debut album: It’s not happening as soon as Interscope initially announced it.
In a new post on her Twitter account, the show’s recent powerhouse vocalist announced that there would be some pretty big news coming out on Monday. When asked by a fan if this related in any way to talk that her album had been pushed to next month, she suggested that it could really hit stores even “later” than that. With that in mind, we proclaim this entire ordeal to be a great example of Interscope being aggressively annoying when it comes to the way in which they tease their music. Remember when they actually claimed that this was going to come out a week from Tuesday? Our major concern is that the longer they wait with Candice (who already had the lowest winners’ single sales in show history, the harder it will be to sell albums.
Adam Lambert’s new event – Like many other artists around the country, Adam took advantage of the opportunity on this 4th of July week to give a notable performance. His came courtesy of the AT&T Live Proud event, where he gave a series of red-carpet interviews, and also performed a brief concert to everyone inside in support of organizations such as the Trevor Project to help LGBT youth in times of crisis. I want it all! Covers, original songs, Musical theatre classics! Adam is impossible to label and it would be a crime to do so. I’d love to see him do new music with Queen, above all. His voice is more than worthy of one of the best rock bands of all time and Adam’s stellar talent deserves the best!

Candice Glover will no doubt have the lowest selling American Idol winner’s album ever. After all, the producers picked her, not the voters. Angie was by far more popular. This years Idol tour will bomb as well because of producer manipulation. Nigel has mud on his face for this one. No wonder he was fired. When the voting goes amuck because of unlimited voting you can look at sales and see who should have won. We all know that Adam was always more popular than Kris. Last week I was in Orlando where a park employee estimated the crowd at 10,000 and Kris Allen was singing at a venue that held less that 200. The power texters did not help Kris in the long run. It hurt American Idol as well because the show looks foolish to have the voice of this generation coming in second. Maybe this year AI will get it together and make Adam a judge.

Adam has shown his (nice-guy) character over and over in his public charity choices… So proud to be a fan of Adam Lambert. Thanks for the article, Matt.

Matt you know this was not just a performance Adam did. It was the culmination of the ATT Live proud campaign which began end of May i think, or June 1. He was central. Fans could retweet or FB like to raise up to $50,000, donated by att to trevor, which they did by the deadline, June 30 or July 1. The intimate concert had people writing in about their live proud moments to win a spot – then was opened up to select others. Nice successful campaign.
