‘Glee’ alum Charice returns to the music with ‘ASAP’ performances with Bamboo

ChariceThere’s no question that the past month or so has been a difficult one for Charice. The Philippines-born singer, best known here for a few appearances on “Glee” back during its second season along with her discovery on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” had a difficult time in the press following the revelation that she is a lesbian. While she is able to celebrate being who she is in a way that she really has not been able to before, not everyone, including many conservative pundits in her country, has been anywhere near as supportive.

After all this, we were really thrilled to see Charice take to the stage of the local show “ASAP” along with rocker Bamboo, and the two performed a duet to the Bruno Mars hit “It Will Rain.” We hope most of Charice’s critics take this as a reminder of one simple thing: If you cut away all of the controversy and allow her to live her life, she’s a brilliant singer.

As for what her future is here on North America, it’s been several seasons since she appeared on “Glee” as Sunshine Corazon, and given that we have seen her former show choir group Vocal Adrenaline since perform without her, it is unlikely that she could return. However, executive producer Ryan Murphy could also be inspired somewhat by her story, and choose to book her again at a time when he otherwise would not have. Stay tuned, since we’ll have more on this pretty soon.

What do you think about this performance, and do you hope that she will be able to ignore the haters? If you want to read some more news on Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch, and some other “Glee” stars, you can do so over at the link here.
