‘Glee’ season 5: Melissa Benoist, Dean Geyer praise Charice, Jessica Sanchez
If there is one Asian country that embraces American culture like no other, it is the Philippines. Shows like “American Idol” and “Glee” are exceptionally popular throughout the country, especially if there is someone on there that has a bit of shared Filipino heritage.
So as a way of giving back to the country that has supported their show so strongly, a quartet of actors from the show (in Melissa Benoist, Dean Geyer, Becca Tobin, and Jacob Artist) all traveled over halfway around the world to spend some time making promotional appearances, sharing stories, and really getting to immerse themselves in a new experience. For us, one of the biggest things we learned through this was that Benoist had actually never traveled outside of America before, which is not something you hear very often from a TV star.
Of course, the press in the Philippines was quick to ask the actors during their stay about a pair of actors / singers with some major ties to the country: Charice (who appeared for a few episodes in season 2) and Jessica Sanchez, who appeared in two episodes near the end of season 4.

Geyer on Charice – “I watched Charice on Oprah and I was blown away. She was pretty young back then, but just from listening to her voice back then, you know that she was going to at least do something, get signed to a major label and release an album.”
Benoist on Sanchez – “There was a moment when we were shooting when Jessica Sanchez started to sing her song live and just kind of stripped down version of the song and everyone just went quiet and stopped to listened to her. She was amazing.”
All of the stars are going to have plenty of time to prepare for “Glee” season 5 to start up production in a little over a month, and Benoist, Tobin, and Artist are all expected back. Geyer seems unlikely given that Finn warned Brody to stay away from Rachel, but he and Lea Michele’s character do still attend the same school and could feasibly bump into each other.
