‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Sean Patrick Flanery on scenes with Jennifer Carpenter’s Deb

DexterSean Patrick Flanery is one of the new additions to “Dexter” season 8, and based on all early indications, it appears as though his character of Jacob is going to be around for at least a little while. After all, he will be first spotted in the season premiere on June 30, and there are suggestions that he will have at least a handful of episodes after that.

We know that Flanery’s character is a private investigator named Jacob, and this sort of personality is someone who could easily have a capacity to make someone very nervous. Is that someone Jennifer Carpenter’s Debra Morgan? You can’t rule it out, given the fact that she will have quit the force when the premiere picks up, and she seems to be going completely off the rails.

Speaking to TV Fanatic on the subject of his character’s relationship with Deb, Flanery was cagey, but he did at least suggest that the two are going to spend some time together:

“She and I have a relationship that’s sometimes good, sometimes bad. I mean that’s somebody’s individual perception if I’m the catalyst to that downward spiral or not. For me, at least my character, I wouldn’t think so but you never know what she’s thinking.”

It will be interesting to see if Flanery’s character also ends up giving Dexter the same sort of anxiety, especially if his job involves LaGuerta’s death, and it very well could; however, he has also shown quite a knack over the years for managing to avoid high-pressure situations brought on by people asking questions.
