‘Dancing with the Stars 16’ pre-show rankings: Is Aly Raisman the favorite?

Dancing with the Stars“Dancing with the Stars” may not have the most famous cast in its history for season 6, but it certainly has an interesting one. For some more evidence of this, just look at the women who are going to be facing off in the ballroom. You have two athletes, two country singers, a Disney star, and a woman who is famous for being extremely rich and having a dog that is as over-the-top as she is.

We’ve already ranked all of the top contenders when it comes to the men, and today, we are going to be doing the same exact thing with the ladies. We don’t have much evidence to go on here, so we are going to have to largely look at athletic ability and perceived fan following as two of the biggest factors.

6. Lisa Vanderpump & Gleb Savchenko – The fact that Lisa is ranked last here just goes to prove how competitive the ladies are this time around. Lisa is probably in the headlines more than any of these women thanks to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” but reality stars like her, Kristin Cavallari, Kate Gosselin, Kendra Wilikson, or The Situation just don’t seem to do very well. She’s going to need to bust out her sense of humor early and often.

5. Wynonna Judd & Tony Dovolani – Tony is the reigning champ, but Wynonna is a pretty busy woman, and we don’t know how much of a voting block that she has out there beyond just some country music fans. Her biggest problem is that she and Kellie Pickler will likely divide this following in half, and we imagine Kellie being the better dancer.

4. Zendaya & Val Chmerkovskiy – There’s no denying that Zendaya will be a great dancer. Her Disney Channel show, “Shake It Up,” is about dancing! The problem she faces is that most of the “Dancing with the Stars” audience is over the age if 49, and many of these people do not have any clue who she is. We could see her going pretty far, but not winning in the end.

3. Dorothy Hamill & Tristan MacManus – On the flip side, many young people may not know Dorothy, but this show’s devoted following largely will. Her story could have a Jennifer Grey sort of comeback to it, and Tristan knows how to help older contestants after working with Nancy Grace and Gladys Knight.

2. Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough – We don’t know if Kellie will be the second-best dancer among the ladies, but she has a lot going for her. She’s young, in good shape, has a devoted country audience, and also has the most-successful partner on the show. We just can’t see Kellie leaving early.

1. Aly Raisman & Mark Ballas – Did you really think that anyone else could be considered the favorite right now? We have to believe that the answer here is “no.” Aly really has everything that a “Dancing with the Stars” winner needs: she’s extremely athletic, relatively famous thanks to her run with the Fierce Five at the Olympics, and she’s got a famous partner in Mark Ballas who won with Shawn Johnson. Heck, she was even a part of Shawn’s freestyle routine last year!

Who do you think among the women is primed to win “Dancing with the Stars” this season? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can once again check out some highlights from the guys over at the link here.
