Fox’s ‘Touch’ future grim as Kiefer Sutherland offered new pilot

TouchAs if it was not obvious enough after looking at the ratings for “Touch,” Kiefer Sutherland may be looking to move on to other things after two seasons on the Fox drama. After all, another network has already expressed interest in casting the actor for a pilot; and more often than not, shows do not take this initiative unless they are pretty confident that the current series will not continue on for another year.

The pilot being offered to Sutherland now is an NBC drama entitled “The Black List,” which is about a nefarious criminal (set to be played by the actor) offering to sing like a canary on every single terrible person that he ever worked with. However, the catch here is that he only wants to work with a young FBI agent, and on the surface there appears to be no connection at all between the two.

This pilot would be in second position for Sutherland, meaning that if for some crazy reason Fox picks up “Touch” despite its awful ratings, he would remain with that show. However, it was almost a foregone conclusion what was going to happen here before the show even premiered. Fox for whatever reason shifted the show back after originally going to premiere it in the fall, and then Maria Bello made the decision to walk away from the series before season 2 even premiered. This had the feeling of something the network had very little confidence in, and we’re starting to see why based on the figures coming in.

Do you want to see Sutherland jump over to another show quickly, or do you think he should stop for a bit after this “Touch” debacle? Be sure to share what you think below, and you can read more on Bello’s exit over at the link here.
