‘Shahs of Sunset’ exclusive: GG on Asa drama, business success, improving anger

GG, Shahs of Sunset“Shahs of Sunset” has taken the TV world by storm, giving viewers an opportunity to learn all about the Persian community in Los Angeles.  The cast of Shahs lead glamorous lifestyles that we constantly die a jealous death over every Sunday night, as we are glued to our televisions sets wondering what’s going to happen next.

One of the stars of the show is Golnesa Gharachedaghi (GG) who comes across  as a smart, funny and above all fierce woman that stands up for not only herself, but also for the people she cares about. With that in mind, we were beyond excited to have the opportunity to ask GG a few questions about the show, her fight with Asa, and her company “GG’s Extensions“.

Cartermatt.com – On this season of ‘Shahs of Sunset’ you have been excluded from a lot of the group events because of what happened with Asa. The show just hasn’t been the same without you as part of the group; will that be something that will change later on in the season?

GG – You’ll have to watch and see, but I can tell you that I’m not going anywhere.

Have you and Asa patched things up, or will things never really be the same?

Sometimes people are unable to connect with each other for whatever reason, and right now that is the case with Asa and I. It’s hard to say what will happen in the future, but it’s apparent the two of us are from different sides of town.

You’ve mentioned on the show (and on your Twitter) that you have been working on your anger in treatment. How has the process been for you?

It’s been very difficult and extremely rewarding all at the same time. Watching myself on the show has made me much more aware of my behavior and the areas in which I need to work. I do see a therapist on a regular basis, and feel like I’m making a lot of progress. I’m learning that much of my anger comes from when I was a pre-teen and got bullied a lot because of my looks. I had to constantly defend myself and after a while that becomes a part of your personality. I recognize this is something I need to change and am working towards that end.

Throughout the season we’ve seen you working on your business, GG’s Extensions. What was it like going from never having a job to running your own company?

Starting and running a business is very stressful, especially when you are doing it with a family member. I am probably a lot more compulsive about making sure everything works than the others because it is my name on the label. This is the first product I have ever out out there, so I want it to exceed people’s expectations. I want whomever buys GG’s Extensions to be surprised at how great they are. It’s important for me as a person to have several irons in the fire. I don’t want to just be someone on a reality show; I want to build a foundation for my future, and this company is moving me closer towards that.

A huge thank you to GG for chatting with us about “Shahs of Sunset,” and if you haven’t had a chance to check it out we suggest that you do so immediately if not sooner – it is honestly one of our favorite shows on the air right now. The show airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. on Bravo, so be sure to tune in and see what all of the fuss is about.
