In what has to be a rather interesting case of good timing, Emmy-winning actress Claire Danes, best known at the moment for her portrayal of master CIA analyst Carrie on Showtime’s “Homeland,” has become a mom to a baby boy just one day after the show finished airing its second season. (The news was just confirmed today by the actress’ representatives.) As tempting as it may have been (or not tempting at all) for her to name the child after her onscreen love interest played by Damian Lewis, she instead went with something that was a little bit more practical and surprisingly normal for a celebrity: Cyrus Michael Christopher. Who doesn’t love three first names rolled into one?
This is Danes’ first child with husband Hugh Dancy, and up until this point, the actress has kept most details about the pregnancy (including the sex of the child) a heavily-guarded secret on the same level as her day job. However, she can now think of this arrival as an early Christmas present, and it allows for her to have several months to enjoy being a mom before returning to the show’s set at some point in the spring to begin work yet again on new episodes.
For those curious, Danes was visibly pregnant through the final weeks of shooting “Homeland” season 2, but producers used every trick in the book, whether it be camera angles to even some editing in post-production, in order to appear as though Carrie was not sporting any sort of baby bump.
