‘American Idol’ notes: David Archuleta, Adam Lambert, Colton Dixon

After it being a quiet past few days when it comes to news pertaining to “American Idol,” but we are coming back here with all sorts of great video content from the weekend in music … including an appearance from a man who has been missing in action for most of 2012 in David Archuleta.

The season 7 runner-up has been taking some time in South America on a Mormon mission, and over the weekend, he gave a rare holiday performance in Santiago of a few Spanish versions of some famous Christmas tracks. The one that we have specifically pointed out here is “Noche Sagrada,” a brilliant version of the classic “O Holy Night.” Just hearing this performance is a reminder of how much we are missing David’s talent at the moment.

Adam, Cyndi Lauper team up – In case you are also a huge fan of Adam Lambert, we also have a special treat for you here that is just about as rare: seeing him perform with the legendary Cyndi Lauper at her “Cyndi Lauper and Friends: Home for the Holidays” event at the famous Beacon Theater in New York City.

Adam and Cyndi were introduced by “Watch What Happens Live!” host Andy Cohen, and the two busted out a stellar cover of one of Adam’s most-famous covers dating back to his days on season 8 in “Mad World.” Watch below and enjoy.

Colton Dixon covers another classic – Just in case David’s performance did not put you enough in the holiday spirit, also be sure to enjoy Colton’s cover of “Jingle Bells” below. It’s basically the song as you would expect Colton to perform it, including with a strong piano-led melody that is both familiar while also unique.
