‘Jersey Shore’ season 6: Snooki, full cast reuniting for Hurricane Sandy benefit

When you consider just how badly the town of Seaside Heights was decimated as a result of Hurricane Sandy, it only makes sense that the cast of “Jersey Shore” would want to come back together to help support the town, and the state, that they have helped to thrust into the pop-culture spotlight. With all of these things in mind, the following announcement should not come as too great of a surprise.

According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, MTV will air a live one-hour special alongside their new episode of “Jersey Shore” season 6 on Thursday, November 15 entitled “Restore the Shore.” This event will feature all of the cast coming back together in an effort to raise money for the Hurricane relief effort across the state, and may also serve as a reminder that even though they may party and joke around quite a bit, these are people who at the end of the day still care extensively about Seaside and the entire state of New Jersey.

Many famed “Jersey Shore” establishments have either been completely destroyed or have been damaged as a result of the storm, including a few famous eateries, the Shore Store where the cast worked during the filming periods, and the amusement park rides on the boardwalk that are literally now underwater. The state and the city (which is on the Barrier Islands) will eventually rebuild following the storm, but this is still going to take some time and a great deal of effort from local people.

“Jersey Shore” season 6 is the final installment of the franchise, which has at times been a ratings monster. However, viewership has waned thus far this year, and the presence of Sandy last week caused the numbers to dip even lower.

Do you think that this telethon is the right move for the cast to make, especially given their own connections to the state? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below!
