’30 Rock’ season 7, episode 5 preview: Jenna becomes the swing vote

At first during last week’s new episode of “30 Rock,” we were not completely sold on the story that had Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy picking predictable sides in the upcoming Presidential election. However, that was before it was revealed, in a complete chain of utter ridiculousness, that “reformed folk singer” Jenna Mulroney’s entire fanbase was basically the deciding voters who lived in the northern part of Florida.

Now, Jenna finds herself in a position during the second part of this episode (airing a week from Thursday): she really is the center of attention, and she somehow holds the power with one endorsement to change the entire course of the country with Mitt Romney or Barack Obama at the helm. Ultimately, we have a feeling that this is probably not going to end well regardless of what she chooses, if for no other reason than that this is Jenna Mulroney that we are talking about here. Regardless, it is sure to be pretty ridiculous, and we will probably be laughing all episode long as a result.

As funny as this episode is sure to be, there is also another key question that we really do have to ask: is this going to set in motion in any way some of what will lead to the end of the series? There are only going to be eight new episodes of “30 Rock” left, and sooner or later, the show is going to have to progress to a point where we can see the ending in sight. All we know right now is that Jack is trying to ruin NBC, Liz wants to have a baby, and that Tracy is still as bizarrely smart as ever.

Do you want to see this show start to establish its endgame a little bit?
