Fee, fi, fo, fum … I smell Jorge Garcia coming back to ABC. For the first time since “Lost,” the actor will be returning to the network that turned him into a household name, and he will also be reuniting with executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis for some madness on “Once Upon a Time.”
It’s already worth shouting from the rooftops that for once, Garcia is really getting to play a completely different sort of character. As the Giant, he is presumed to be a villain rather than someone who is going to either be funny, snarky, or an asset to someone else around him. He will be receiving some unwelcome visitors courtesy of Emma Swan and Captain Hook, who are hoping to snag a compass that they can use to help find their way back to Storybrooke. In some ways, it’s obviously tacked-on that this story was created just to get Garcia on the show; then again, do we really care?
As for the flashbacks, the image above gives you one suggestion of what we are going to see from Emma’s past in real life, and the same goes for the promo below. She’s hardly going to be the sort of good girl that Snow White likely wanted her to be so many years ago, and her dark side also includes “True Blood” alum Michael Raymond-James. We’ve all heard the speculation that he is either Rumpelstiltskin’s son Baelfire, Henry’s father, or even both. Our personal feeling? He may just be a giant red herring to at least one of three possibilities we mentioned if not more, mostly because we don’t know why ABC is featuring him so heavily before the episode airs. (Then again, they also spoiled Dr. Whale being Dr. Frankenstein last week.)
