‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: First photo from the finale!
Have you just begun digesting what happened on Sunday night’s new “Downton Abbey”? Let’s hope so, since we are now ready to start the speculation and spoiler dish for the season finale! (Yes, there is still a Christmas special coming, but that is over a month removed from the rest of the series.)
So what is going on in the photo to the left? Basically, the best way to describe it is just as a seemingly-friendly discussion with Edith front and center. We are wondering just what further implications her decision to take the journalism job will bring not just to her, but to the Abbey as a whole. Remember, she is moving much of the entire family forward after they have been thought of strictly as nobles for so long, which is why Robert was so hesitant to allow her to work this job to begin with. Nonetheless, it is an occupation that she seems to be rather pleased with for the time being, and it allows her to find some way to occupy her time that may have otherwise been spent tearfully looking back at the Sir Anthony disaster.
As for what else we know at the moment, Matthew and Mary are going to have an interesting story during this episode involving secrets, and the fate of Thomas moving forward is going to very much determined by Mr. Carson after he caught him kissing Jimmy in Sunday night’s episode, a moment that Thomas claimed was a result of him forcing himself upon the newcomer so that he would not take the fall.
What do you think is happening in this photo?

My fun guess: The young girl looks to be the wild child grandniece of Violet, and she spends time at Rosamund’s with newly minted journalist, but not streetwise, cousin Edith where the new kid’s hard partying ways somehow get Edith caught up in a publicized scandal (like *gasp* being photographed carousing at a club? Or dare I hope being present at a Night They Raided Minskys style raid!?) that causes her and the family embarrassment. She may quit under pressure from Papa, with the crushing realization that overprotective Daddy was right. And we can hope that her editor guy makes a play for her, too, just to further incense Papa and conjure up memories of Richard.
