‘American Idol’ notes: Carrie Underwood, Nicki Minaj, Lee DeWyze

We’re kicking things off on our Friday edition of “American Idol” notes with one of the craziest things that we have seen yet: someone actually having to audition for “American Idol” while at a Carrie Underwood concert. Presumably, this is a part of a “nominate an Idol” program that the show is doing this year to drum up some interest in the show for the new year, and the person who was present to hear it was none other than Randy Jackson.

According to the uploader of this video, the person auditioning is an 18-year old singer named Danielle Castleman who was nominated for the show via her friends, and she was surprised by having an audition happen right in the middle of the season 4 winner’s show. First things first, we have to give Carrie credit for being a good sport about this, and also supporting other female country singers considering just how competitive the market is there in what

Overall, though, we understand why Randy put her through to Hollywood: she was a great singer, even if she didn’t do much of anything that we haven’t heard before.

A new ad – Speaking of season 12, here is a new ad featuring Randy and his fellow judges (Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban) along with some other people presumed to be contestants (even if they aren’t really). It’s a simple ad for the show compared to the one featuring Phillip Phillips, and we almost feel that one is more effective than one whose sole argument for being great is that their show was here before the others. Cool story, bro.

Lee DeWyze tour stops – Finally, we want to share a few places that Lee DeWyze is going to be performing this year if you’re interested in checking out a show (and you very much should be). He will starting things off Friday in Blairstown, New Jersey, and then will be performing shows in Fairfield, Connecticut and Northhampton, Massachusetts.
