‘The Vampire Diaries’: Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder ’50 Shades of Grey’ ‘rumors’
We understand it, internet: people really want to cast some people from “The Vampire Diaries” in a “50 Shades of Grey” movie. After all, the likes of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have managed to appeal to the world of temptation, lust, and violence perfectly within the context of a teen / young adult audience; why not have them to the next level and get whips and a dungeon involved?
We see the satiric comment above as the justification whenever more rumors are started about either actor possibly being a part of the film at the moment, mostly because as much as some “Vampire Diaries” fans may want to see this happen, it’s surely not going to. At best, one of them could be cast for the part; but even then, it’s a stretch just thanks to the fact that there are likely hundreds of actors in consideration.
A great comparison to the rumors surfacing now suggesting that Dobrev and Somerhalder could play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey would be to go back to the early days of “The Vampire Diaries,” and then suggest that the two leads be played by Somerhalder and Maggie Grace rather than him and Dobrev. What are we getting at here? Basically, “The Vampire Diaries” would have never been able to get out of the shadow of “Lost” had they cast two lead actors who were each apart of that show, and especially had some sort of bizarre, one-sided relationship when it came to their characters. The same sort of thing would happen with a “50 Shades of Grey” movie, since it would not allow the movie to be its own beast.
Luckily, we can still promise plenty to those of you who who want more of Nina and Ian on the small screen: Elena and Damon are going to continue to have a strange relationship moving forward on “The Vampire Diaries” season 4, especially with our leading lady now a bloodthirsty vampire. Let’s just say that she is no longer going to be the same sort of sweet young woman that Stefan once knew.

No, now I think both of them would make a great cast but also there would be a lot of talk about Vampire Diaries and I understand how they probably want a actor who doesn’t already have a huge *Ahhhh girl look at that body* fan base. But Nian playing in it would be adorable….I think Ian would do good if not Nina or Nina if not Ian. I haven’t even read 50 Shades of Grey sooooo….

I think Ian Somerhalder will be perfect to play Christian Grey in “50 Shades of Grey” movie. With his smoldering eyes and sexy facial expressions, he’s perfect for the role. I believe actress, Natalie Portman should play Anastasia Steele. She has that innocent, young look and is an intelligent person in real life. Somerhalder/Portman in “50 Shades Grey” movie, I would definitely go see it. =)

I have a feeling its gonna be a great movie if they put Nina in 50 shades. (sorry Nina fans). But i agree if they take Ian for Christian, he’s perfect for teh role. If they make Nina play Ana, not everyone will appreciate the movie. I guess it’s enough that they’re together in The Vampire Diaries. I know they have a relationship together in real life as well, but its better if they just make Ian play Christian Grey, and take another person to play Ana Steele. :)

I think I just want to have Ian Somerhalder cast as Christian Grey and stop reading rumors and making comments. It’s not a stretch at all to think Ian may be cast. Ok maybe not both of them together as Nina has already said she couldn’t see that happening and I can see why a movie studio would be hesitant to do that for the reasons you gave……It would be hot though, and she’d need blue contacts.
